The Russians destroyed the plant genetic bank in Kharkiv – the only one in Ukraine
More than 160,000 varieties and hybrids of plants from all over the world were stored there, many of which are beyond recovery. The bank survived the German occupation during World War II.
The Russians burned everything to the ground.
