During two days of work at the mass burial site in Izium, law enforcement officers exhumed 59 bodies of the dead. For five months, the armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out massive shelling of the city and its surroundings with various types of weapons, killing and torturing local residents. On September 16, law enforcement officers discovered 445 graves with crosses. 23 graves were exhumed, 22 bodies were recovered. All bodies have late putrefactive changes and are partially mummified. Signs of torture were found on individual bodies of the dead – fragments of ropes around the neck and other parts of the body, broken limbs, etc. A mass burial of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also discovered at the scene, in which 17 dead people were located.
