In Izium, the exhumation of all bodies at the mass burial site has been completed. During September 16-23, 447 bodies of the dead Ukrainians were exhumed from the place of mass burial in the forest near the town of Izium. Of them, 215 women, 194 men, 5 children, as well as 22 servicemen who died at the hands of the Russian invaders. In addition, the remains of 11 people were discovered, the gender of which cannot be determined at this time. The deceased were found to have physical injuries in the form of mine-explosive injuries, shrapnel, gunshot and stab wounds. Several of the dead had their hands tied, broken bones, and a number of the dead had a rope around their necks. Police criminologists and medical examiners face a difficult task – to identify the body of each deceased person. Relatives will bury them humanely.
