On June 20, 2023, around 11:00 a.m., the Russian armed forces from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region launched a mortar attack on the city of Kherson. The neighborhoods of Korabel, Shumenskyi, the center and the suburbs came under the attack of the Russian army. A 28-year-old civilian man was killed as a result of an attack by Russian troops on the Korabel district of the city on the territory of the enterprise, where a Russian projectile hit. The Russian shells damaged educational institutions, private houses, service stations. The medics who rushed to help the victims also came under fire. At the school in Kherson after the morning shelling by Russian troops, there is a hole in the wall, broken windows, and smashed furniture. An apartment building located nearby was also damaged. The blast wave shattered the glass in the windows. Eyewitnesses talk about four hits. The village of Kozatske, Kakhovka District, was damaged by an airstrike by the Russian troops. The Russians directed guided bombs at residential buildings and the territory of the enterprise, the administrative building and equipment were damaged. Around 1:30 p.m., the Russian military opened artillery fire on the coastal zone of Kherson, where at that time emergency services workers were eliminating the consequences of flooding caused by the Russian army’s detonation of the Kakhovka HPP. One of the employees died on the spot, eight more were injured.
