On July 20, there were devastating attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Odesa, carried out by the Russian military using Kalibr missiles and Shahed drones. The attacks resulted in multiple injuries to at least four people, including a 15-year-old boy, who were caught in the explosion of an enemy rocket in the city center. They were immediately taken to hospitals for treatment. Tragically, a 21-year-old security guard employed by a civilian enterprise lost his life due to Russian shelling.
The shelling and subsequent fires caused extensive damage to various locations in Odesa. Among the affected sites were the administrative building and office premises, apartment buildings, an educational institution, a lyceum, a kindergarten, and vehicles. The port infrastructure facilities and warehouses belonging to a private enterprise also incurred significant damage. As a result of a rocket attack, a 4-story building in the city center was partially destroyed, followed by a fire on an area of 500 m2.
The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Odesa underwent damage as a result of the Russian night attack.
The cultural institutions in Odesa also suffered greatly, with three museums—the Literary Museum, the Archaeological Museum, and the Museum of Western and Eastern Art—sustaining damage from the shelling.
